I know WAY to much about the British Royal Family. So I’ve been thrilled to watch the Netflix series The Crown.

Have you seen the Netflix original series The Crown?

Never seen The Crown before?

You’ve been missing out!

Watch the trailer below.

Why should you watch The Crown?

I have to confess, I didn’t really love History as a student. All those names and dates and war battles. Ugh. But as an adult, I’ve come to really love reading about history, but a very specific way. Through the eyes of famous women. Reading biographies and autobiographies really helps me put historical events in perspective. They’re much more meaningful and memorable.

While not exactly always factual, The Crown a very good interpretation of events. I’ve read lots of books about the British Royal Family, and the research that went into producing this series really showed. It’s amazing how a dramatization can really help you understand what people must have been going through during different events.

Did you love The Crown?

Did you love it too? Now you can own your own copies!

These would also make great gifts! If there’s someone special on your gift list who enjoys watching The Crown, they’re going to love having their own copies! There’s Blu-Ray (the better to see the jewels and dresses!) of The Crown – Season 1 and The Crown – Season 2.

The Crown – fact and embellished fact (otherwise known as fiction)

Even as much as I’ve previously read about Queen Elizabeth the II, I found myself wondering how much is fact, and how much is embellished. Sometimes events portrayed in The Crown were pretty much how I pictured them. But other times, they didn’t quite match up with what I remembered.

In those cases, it was fun to look up other people’s comparison of The Crown, and actual events. Read below to see some of the best articles & webpages about British Royalty and The Crown that I’ve found.

(Queen Elizabeth II’s tiara at her wedding? Totally placed wrong on Claire Foy’s head in the series! Yes, I took that as a sign that I had seen the actual wedding photos way too many times.)

But, all in all, The Crown never strayed too far off.
