Tried-and-True Gift Guide for Teen Girls

October 30, 2017 by ES Ivy

I enjoy the challenge of coming up with the perfect gift for that hard-to-buy-for person on my gift list. To me, the perfect gifts are items you wouldn’t have thought of for yourself, or ones that go beyond the basic we often purchase for ourselves. To my surprise, one of my most viewed Pinterest boards is gifts for tween and teen girls. That’s who I find it the easiest to shop for! I don’t need a gift guide for that myself. So that’s a good time to write one!

A list of the best teen girl Christmas gift ideas - Gifts I've given my own teen girls that they love and actually USE! #teengirl #christmasgifts

This post may contain text and image affiliate links. You pay the same price, but I may receive a small commissions for purchases through those links.

August 25, 2017 by ES Ivy

My teen son had a blast following the events of the last Force Friday. Can I admit it baffled me a little how excited he was? He was so, SO excited. He really got a kick out of seeing all the new Star Wars stuff as it was announced. Clearly, I “am not the demographic they are looking for.” (Get it?) Well, anyway…

This year Force Friday is back with a new twist, Find the Force II!

It's not too early to start your holiday shopping! Find great Star Wars gifts teen boys and girls, and maybe even Dad, too. Even grown men love Star Wars stuff. And kids. And okay, even though I love Star Wars (and Han Solo) I don't need the stuff, but some women like it too!Force Friday is back!

Winter Craft: twist on a Peekaboo Sugar Egg, a Peekaboo Sugar Snowball

January 28, 2014 by ES Ivy

How to make - steps for making your own peek-a-boo sugar snowman, a snowman scene inside of a dried sugar hollow ball.I’m not sure exactly what it is about miniatures, but looking at them is like getting  a peek into a magical world. (Rather like reading a book!) When I was little, we had some peek-a-boo eggs my mother had made out of sugar. Things made out of sugar, sugar art, are instantly magical, just from the sparkle. You could look in a hole at one end and peer in at a little chicky or bunny sticker. Those eggs were tinted purple and pink, but it occurred to me that in it’s original sugary whiteness, they would look exactly like snow. Why not make a peek-a-boo sugar snowball?…

December 31, 2013 by ES Ivy

This seems a bit late – instructions for a peppermint wreath after Christmas, but I don’t have the staff (or the desire!) to make my Christmas ideas in July. 🙂 I’m going to work on timing, but for now, here it is – a Christmas craft after Christmas!

Christmas decor - DIY peppermint wreaths. My daughters made these with me years ago and we still enjoy hanging them in our kitchen windows every year. I share tips and tricks for this easy, original Christmas craft that your kids can help you with or even do on their own.

I love making new crafts, but I really don’t like making repeated copies. This was a difficulty with this craft, because I wanted it for my kitchen windows, and I had three. Lo and behold, but as I was working on the first wreath two more magically appeared! It was a Christmas miracle!…

Even though parties will be smaller in 2020, you can still have fun with the look of food, and kids can help! Food crafts make a great Christmas activity to do with your kids. I made this for my daughter’s 5th grade class party years ago and it was a big hit! I was trying to come up with a snacked that fulfilled the healthy requirement, that didn’t take all the fun out of the party food too! I made this for my daughter’s 5th grade class party and it was a big hit! (And yes, the first kid in line took the star off the top. You might consider cutting some extras.)
