This is test 10 of trying to find the best social media sharing image size and composition that will work for more than one social media site, a single image that will work for social sharing images on Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest.
I need to test what happens if the eyes or face are further down in the photo. What kind of faces are recognized and what happens when the faces are lower in the photo?
Results
The Santa face ended up being already positioned in the center of a centered Twitter square, so I got one line of text like before. Turns out that on this type of image when you move a face lower, it ends up being centered. Further tests, though, showed that Facebook and Twitter did not recognize this tiny Santa face, so they just grabbed the center of this photo, which turned out to be the area of interest on this photo.
Also, as I refined this some more, while I stuck with the image size of 735×1102 pixels and uploaded the image to WordPress in that same size, after I inserted the image in WordPress I edited it to display 400×600 on future posts. You can see how this looks on the image in the on the next post for finding the best social media image size.
The one thing that would have been good in this photo, would have been if I had used a photo that extended all the way down to the bottom, so there wasn’t the confusing white background at the very bottom of this image.
I need to see if I have a photo with him higher to see if smart crop recognizes a small, high, face.
