This Halloween cake is super easy to make! You can start from scratch, or use baking mixes. It's so cute that it also makes a great centerpiece!I know, I know. You’re going to have lots of trick-or-treat candy. But maybe your Halloween party is on a different night. Or maybe you haven’t got a great centerpiece for your table, like this cute cardboard haunted house. This Halloween cake is super easy to make! You can start from scratch or use baking mixes. It’s so cute that it also makes a great centerpiece for your Halloween party!

I’ve included Amazon links to most products (and I’m an Amazon Affiliate) so I can use photos to show you exactly what I’m talking about. But be aware that if you don’t use Prime Pantry you may pay a premium!

Bake your favorite chocolate cake in a 9×13 inch baking pan and frost with your favorite buttercream chocolate icing.

Or try these recipes: Best-Ever Chocolate Cake and frosting from Better Homes and Gardens.

Or start with a chocolate cake mix and pre-made icing. (I won’t tell!)

Haunted Graveyard Cake Directions.

  1. Bake the cake according to box or recipe directions.
  2. Wait for the cake to cool.
  3. While you are waiting for the cake to cool, use the markers to write fun tombstones such as “Death by chocolate.”
  4. Frost the cake with chocolate icing.
  5. While the icing is still soft, decorate the cake. Start with the tombstones and ghosts at the back of the cake. Use unwrapped Hershey kisses to help prop up the ghosts. Push the milano cookies into the cake about 1/3 their length. Slitting the cake with a sharp knife might help to push them into the cake. Be sure to put some tombstones at fun angles. Try not to put ghosts directly in front of the tombstone writing.
  6. Scatter a few candy pumpkins.
  7. Add pumpkin vines using the round tip. Add leaves using the leaf tip. (Tip: Practice on waxed paper first.)

I hope you have fun! If you need more Halloween themed food for your Halloween party, be sure to check out my other ideas for Halloween food.
