Steve Jobs vs Becoming Steve Jobs biographies – my own observations, Part 7/7

Steve Jobs biographies - my own observationsBoth of the Steve Jobs biographies I read, Steve Jobs by Walter Isaacson and Becoming Steve Jobs: The Evolution of a Reckless Upstart into a Visionary Leader by Brent Schlender and Rick Tetzeli, were written by people who knew Steve Jobs personally. But there are a couple of small points that I think they overlooked….

March 30, 2016 by ES Ivy

For some reason, Twitter did not make putting in a header photos easy. Twitter tells you that the correct Twitter header size is 1500 x 500 pixels. But, when you upload an image that size, Twitter still automatically enlarges it, cuts off the edges, and decreases the quality. A triple whammy! I think it has something to do with trying to make the header optimize for different devises.

I did some research* and came up with 5 easy ways to Optimize your Twitter Header Image  and I used these five tips to you step-by-step how to convert your Facebook Cover Photo into a Twitter Header Image.

If you’re still not happy with the quality, I have more more quick tip, short of starting everything over with much bigger images.

March 29, 2016 by ES Ivy

Did you upload an image the correct Twitter header size, 1500 x 500 pixels, and find that it didn’t work? Have you got a blurry Twitter header image?

How to fix a blurry Twitter header.

In Twitter, the only edit options are to zoom in and then reposition after zooming in, cutting off even more of your image. So you can’t fix it.

I did quite a bit of reading and came up with the following easiest ways to optimize your Twitter header image – 5 quick fixes….

Steps to becoming a successful entrepreneur – what can be learned from Steve Jobs, Part 6/7

March 29, 2016 by ES Ivy

Steps to becoming a successful entrepreneur - what can be learned from Steve JobsI’ve read quite a bit of information about becoming an entrepreneur. Not that I’ve been able to put much of it into practice, but I’ve done a lot of research. Enough that  while I was reading Steve Jobs by Walter Isaacson, and Becoming Steve Jobs: The Evolution of a Reckless Upstart into a Visionary Leader by Brent Schlender and Rick Tetzeli,  I was surprised to notice when Jobs’ success occurred not because he followed what is often given as common advice, but when he deviated from it….

Steve Jobs’ weaknesses as a leader – Part 5/7

March 22, 2016 by ES Ivy

Steve Jobs' weaknesses as a leader - Becoming Steve JobsBecoming Steve Jobs: The Evolution of a Reckless Upstart into a Visionary Leader by Brent Schlender and Rick Tetzeli points out that Job’s success in his second career at Apple depended not only on what he learned from the failures of NeXT and the successes of Pixar, but on him evolving personally, learning how to manage his weaknesses and fine tune his strengths. I went over some of his strengths in a previous post. So what were his characteristics that hampered him, especially earlier in his career? What were Steve Jobs’ weaknesses as a leader?…

Characteristics of Steve Jobs that made him successful – Part 4/7

March 15, 2016 by ES Ivy

Characteristics of Steve Jobs that made him successful - Becoming Steve JobsAccording to Becoming Steve Jobs: The Evolution of a Reckless Upstart into a Visionary Leader by Brent Schlender and Rick Tetzeli, these were some characteristics of Steve Jobs that made him successful. I also read, Steve Jobs by Walter Isaacson, the official biography, but because Becoming Steve focused more on his career and less on his personal life, it was easier to keep track of his characteristics in Becoming Steve.  Some of these were characteristics that he was lacking – or weren’t well developed – the first time he was at Apple and led, all or in part, to his dismissal from the company. Some of these characteristics intersect with the ones that I went over before, the characteristics of Steve Jobs that are the opposite of what traditional education teaches.…

Facebook cover photo for a page

I needed a new Facebook cover photo, so I followed the Facebook tutorial How to make a Facebook page cover photo. Worked like a charm! I wonder who wrote such great step-by- step directions for the cover photo, complete with a free template the correct size? 🙂

It had been over a year since I’d made one; I’m so glad I took that time to write that tutorial for me  to help others. I used free-online photo editing software, pixlr.com, to make it.

Here it is!

Entrepreneur skills Steve Jobs didn’t learn in school – Part 3/7

March 9, 2016 by ES Ivy

Entrepreneur skills Steve Jobs didn't learn in school - Steve Jobs biographyHow did Steve Jobs, a college dropout, go on to found a computer company, get kicked out, help steer the success of Pixar, and make his way back to Apple and phenomenal success? Since he was a college dropout, it wasn’t from something he learned in college. In fact, he wasn’t much of a student in high school either. His opinion was that schools just made students memorize stuff, rather than teaching them interesting information. What were the entrepreneur skills Steve Jobs didn’t learn in school?…
