Starting a new website? How to choose the best domain registrar and save money! First year's price isn't the only thing to look for. Avoid hidden costs! If you want to have a website with your own domain name, you’ll need to “buy” the domain – register it for a year or more. How do you find the best domain registrar?

How do you choose the best domain registrar?

Because I wanted to have separate domain registrars and website hosts, I wanted to move my domains to a new domain registrar. But when I started looking for instructions for how to move them, I found that all the help articles come from domain registrars or hosting companies themselves, and their instructions are specific to them. Tips for building a website - There's more to your domain than just picking your blog name. When you're starting a blog, not knowing some of the basics can cost you money! Easy to understand definitions of web host and domain registrar, how to pick the best ones, and why using a free domain from your web host isn't a good idea.Just after my domains auto-renewed last year – at DOUBLE their original rate – I started coming across information about all the reasons it’s a good idea to have your domain registration with a different company than your website host. I’ve wanted to move my domain registration ever since.

Wait a minute, you might be thinking. I got my domain (for free) when I started my website. What do you mean there’s two of these things? Isn’t my host my domain registrar the same thing? How could I have two of them?  And just what is the difference between domain registration and website hosting?…

This is test 12 of trying to find the best social media sharing image size and composition that will work for more than one social media site, a single image that will work for social sharing images on Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest. (Well, actually it’s about trials 12-15. I got tired of making so many posts and actually made several temporary posts and used many variations of the image below where I moved the face around.)

I need to test what happens if the eyes or face are really low or high in the photo. What kind of faces are recognized and what happens when the faces are really low or high in the photo?…

This is test 9 of trying to find the best social media image size and composition that will work for more than one social media site, a single image that will work for social sharing images on Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest.

So far, I’ve found that with longer images, in a 1:2 ration, Facebook has smart cropping to a landscape image that centers on eyes. Twitter always takes a square image from the center of the longer image, no matter what is in the image.

However, …
